In 1971 President Richard Nixon gave Lt. William Caulley a full pardon after Calley was courtmartialed for the 1968 My Lai Massacre. The Birdcatcher in Hell was Bread and Puppet Theater's response to these events. The play is structured around a Japanese kyogen- the comic interlude between acts of classical Noh drama.

Filmed and produced by Sue Bettman this dvd documents a revival of a show created and performed in 1971. Filmed in May 2014 at the Flynn Center in Burlington, VT, the show featured four members of the first company to perform this play, plus a troupe of new performers.
